The pricing will be here soon. This was the first board to come out in the open. We have put this board through extensive testing in doors and it has proven to be overwhelmingly strong. So we put it in the hands of the extreme riders this weekend. Now we return to the shop today to examine the board for stress cracks interior or exterior. And insure that no changes need to be made and then the board will hit the market. So give us a few days and we will have all your answers.

Thanks

X Air

Here are some larger versions, you will need to go to above link to see the full size ones.

Nate's expression in the last photo pretty much sums up the reactions people gave when riding the board.

Love the CF look.... Does CF need UV protection or is it immune to the sun?

Sent from my van down by the river!

We have been informed by our carbon engineer that the UV rays will not effect the integrity of the material; however, as with anything, excessive exposure to extreme conditions could cause fading. We recommend protecting all of your equipment with UV wax.

Knowing the weight of the tower and now the board, with the Cobra/Viper (assuming the Cobra is within a few ounces of the Black Ops) I would say this ski comes in just over 30 pounds Cinched.

Got a chance to ride the black board at the fly in last weekend. What a ride! Not only was the ski the lightest I have been on, but also the most responsive. The effects are immediately noticeable. Everyone that tried it had that 'first time up on a foil' grin and were reluctant to pass the board to the next rider. Congrats to Nate and X-Air on one bad mo-fo of a board. Looking forward to having one of my own! Hit me up at the TX Fly-In if you want to try it out!!

I'll 3rd that. It'd be easier to just take a big poop prior to riding, same weight loss.

When asking about the strength of our Black board, we must have something to compare it to, and at this point in time I am not sure how to anwser that question and be politically correct. However, I will say that this board was designed by a carbon engineer. He is the same engineer that pioneered the building of the all carbon sail boat mast. He is also the same guy that builds bobsleds for the Olympic bobsled team, and is well known in the Indy Racing and NASCAR industry, as well as many other accomplishments.

Now, as for the board, it has been a labor of love and desire to take the foiling industry to the next level. We at X Air have designed a board with the right amount of flex throughout in order to dissipate the impact from those heavy nose yard dart crashes, and maintains rigidity in the board. I guess to put this in a few words, we have designed a board for a foil.

Testing? Rigorous indoor testing that has surpassed all competition's standards, and now onto the water, which will be an everyday test under all situations. We will never stop looking for ways to improve, and we will never stop testing.

Price? It is still in question. We are waiting on all of the pricing for buying the products in bulk.

I hope that we have answered a few of your questions. We will be putting out a full introduction for this ski along with an introduction to X Air soon. We appreciate all your support over the last 13 months as X Air has come to be.

I would like to add that the engineer involved in the "Black board" has been looking at board failure and this project for a long time. It took a company like X Air to step up and pull the trigger to make it a reality. Thank You!!!

What's the method of attachment between the board and seat tower? Hopefully 3/8" bolts rather than 5/16" bolts????

XAir
08-16-2012, 02:38 PM
Yes. We are using a 3/8 bolt system very similar to the o nut system sky ski is using.

$2,250 for the XAir and it comes with MM bindings, rails and footbeds. The AC carbon board is $1,300 but does not come with bindings, rails or footbeds.
