it is not too unusual to rise a foot per day when the runoff starts to hit full swing. I go to Powell on June 9, so I am hoping the cut will be passable by then. It seems like this year it may not get that crazy

I have been there with my houseboat anchored for a week with the water rising a foot every day. It makes it pretty important to tighten those anchor ropes twice a day or more. We put our anchors way up the beach, and by the time we left, they were touching the water.

1.93 feet and the cut will be open. Did they dredge more out last week or is this a typo?

Everyone, stay away from lake powell, it's a terrible place with NO WATER whatsoever.

Right -- even at this level, it's still one of the most amazing places on earth - was there 2 weeks ago, go week after next again. )

They did dredge more out this winter, but not last week. I was just there 4 days ago. The lake is rising less than 2 inches per day right now. I am not sure if they are even going to make it passable at the rate that the lake is going. It just depends on how long the runoff is this year. I hope it makes it, but wouldn't count on it. The extra 2 hours in a houseboat going around antelope Island was most unpleasant.

I've got some video and pics. Hope to share them after I get caught up at work.

Please elaborate. The website still says it is nearly 2 feet away. The water might be contiguous all the way through, but you still need a reasonable depth to go driving your boat through there. Do you mean it is open if you are driving a canoe?

On a side note, they have now found a few hundred quagga mussels. They still somehow are hoping that they do not have a problem despite the fact that they have been found in both Wahweap and Antelope point marinas. A few months back, when they said that they had found 14 that were all males, I about fell out of my chair. The conspiracy theorist in me says that the Park Service receives money for mussel prevention, and they would lose the money once they admit that mussels are actually breeding in there.
