Interesting... anyone know how this was measured? Top or lowest point of the foil/person?

Can we get a frame count on it?

just a try of an approach...
gess, the rider is not turning like a pole jumper (that would be like cheating)
second half of jump = falling 7,01m = half of the air time
s = 1/2 * g * t * t
g = Acceleration of gravity
s = 7m
t = time
t = 1,1948 s
complete air time = falling time doubled
complete air time is 2,390 s
that means a lot of frames ...
help me, something's wrong here ?
Since the rider probably turned in the air, he will have a less frames.

s - 1/2 a t^2
23 (ft) = 1/2 (32) t^2
23 * 2 / 32 = t^2
1.4375 = t^2
1.1989 = t
1.1989 * 30 fps = 35.968
Total frames of the trick would be 71.93 using math only
My guess is they would have measured at the top most part of his body/foil at the apex of the trick. Especially with an outcome of 72 frames.

What were the recorded record frame counts back in 2004? 50? 55? I have no idea but watching the evolution in last 8 years I'm guessing. Working backwards, could you calculate back to estimate body center of gravity from on water to height during roll, assuming a roll? That, to me, would be a great measurement and with gps devices today, very easy to get. For the Guiness book to use the highest point may be one way, just not the way I would use. A longer tbar would help that measurement.
I read about it long ago. They used lasers to calculate height. Knowing what we know today there is no way he went as high as they say he did. But try telling Guinness that.
I don't think the frame counting thing came about until 2006 or 2007. In 2007 Jake Bradley won the big air comp at the USHA National's with a 56frame air roll.
Some day I would like to try this again. Billy did use another boat to make a kicker jump, so that is most definitely how he was able to attain the record. I heard he smoked himself on the previous attempts because he was not used to that kind of air. It is possible, given I was able to do 64 frames in 2006 off of an X-star wake on a 37" Tbar set up.
It would be awesome to see what someone could do with longer bars bigger wings and bigger wakes. Takes a big set to charge a kicker and go mid 60s
