Finally, I landed my first jumps! Love it and am landing about 50% of them now. What I'd like advice on is how to land smoother and not bounce so hard down onto the water. Once that starts I eat it half the time. I see videos of guys landing so smooth and often the board doesn't touch the water. What's the key? Here's a video of a couple jumps from last weekend...Thanks guys!

And thanks Kerry (PillHill) for taking me out last weekend and letting me try that hot ski... See you Labor Day Weekend...

Hey Good Job! I’m no expert at this but I have been riding for a few years. There are many ways to ride these Flying Chairs. I hope others will contribute with their tricks & tips!
How fast are you going? Look’s a little hot. What ski are you riding? You won’t get as much air at a slower speed (18 – 20mph) at first but if you work on your form, handle position and a better “Dip” the big air will come with less water in your face and up your nose!.
    1. First issues I see is that your hands & arms are all over the place. Raising and lowering the handle to control elevation is how most of us started. Break that habit. The chair doesn’t react very quickly when you are sitting upright with the handle over your head. When you land I call it “rag-doll” or “Superman” position. Bent over at the waist with arms out in front almost kissing my knees. On the landing keep the handle in front of you and low (almost by your knees) and let it pull your shoulders forward to superman position. Slight pressure with your feet (not too much or you might find yourself doing a depth check!) this will help to reduce the relaunch as you are learning. Next work on using your shoulders moving forward and back and foot pressure to control foil elevation with the handle at your knees. Foil elevation control reacts much faster to foot pressure and upper body weight shifts then handle height changes. Another tip I found helpful is to learn not to pull in on the handle as you take-off, just put the handle in your lap and keep it there, shoulders back on take-off, shoulders forward after landing. Also don’t ride the ski up the wake to launch, try to get the foil to exit the crest of the wake. This gives a lot more pop as you launch. Keep takin’ the video’s everyone loves a good crash!

Watch the Air Chair/Sky Ski/Next Foils teaching Videos on you-tube. Mike Murphy does a great job of breaking everything down to step by step instruction and demonstrating the moves.

Depends how picky you are, I've tried a few different styles from full-on slalom gloves to scuba ones, I like a bargain so the last 4years or so I've been wearing Mechanix gloves like the ones below, they're super light and not bulky plus they last about 2 years. If you drop one in the lake or loose one, no big wup, they're only 12 or 15 bucks.

You have to lock your core down. You are simply over correcting after the jump. Do the jump cutting away from the boat. Jumps are hardest directly behind the boat. After you get the jump sorted then take it back to the wake.

Went out again yesterday. Probably landed 20-25 jumps on two runs with only two crashes. Definitely getting better at the landing and controlling my height with my body and feet instead of the rope. Going back out tomorrow and will post some video...

Went out again today. Getting better at my landings. I tried cutting out and jumping and most of them did not end well. The boat pulls me sideways in the air. I guess I need to work an gaining speed then jumping when the rope is slack? Here's today..
