Had a buddy Xray Old Man Jeff's t-bar last night. Based on the pics he says the cracks are superficial. Same superficial cracks resulted in a XXX wing at the bottom of Marine Stadium years ago on another FT tbar. OMJ has replaced the FT with an AC MV-40 but you wonder how much more life was left in it. Crack running between #4 and #5 bolt holes and crack on keel below 4 and 5 bolt holes.

I don't have professional knowledge of metals, but I believe once the surface is broken, the object is weakened significantly. Think of a rod being bent - once the surface develops a crack it loses strength. If it were a coating such as powerdercoat, like paint on a car, then I would say it is ok. Perhaps turn it into a kid's ski?

Maybe someone with vast metallurgical experience can chime in?
