I have a B-39 that has been dialed in all summer in good water temps. Got out today in water around 67 - 70 and the foil seems to want to suck down quite a bit.

Is there a general rule for adjustments as the temps get cooler?

    Thanks for any help!!

    I've got the same question.
But it has to be a little colder than that before my B39 starts.
Haven't missed it all summer & not looking forward to it acting up again.

Look into your rear wing. I have found that most of the time, a cold water glitch(suck down) is caused by the rear wing. I don't know all the details to be sure, but I would look into the rear wing first.

    Winglets? Or flat wing?

My guess is it's a batwing. I don't notice nearly has much problem with my MaxAir wing..... and our water temps are in the mid 50s already.

He has a Max Air front and a bat rear with winglets as do I. I have the same setup but I haven't had mine out yet in the cooler water.

Cook, I'll let you know after Sunday if I have the same issue or not. Here's hoping for not.

Yep - rear bat wing with a shim in the front of the rear wing (-1?). Thinking I may just take out the shim and see where it goes from there. Will be heading out in a few hours so will post back up with results.

I did some cold water testing, with a MaxAir and some various rear wings on a modified B39 and an LE38. I found that by swapping out the B39 rear wing you could almost eliminate cold water suck down. Other rear wings: some rode better in cold water than others.

We have found up here in Canada that once the lake water stablizes the suckdown is a lot less. Our Le38 (max air, rear bat)seems to suck down a lot more than our Lex(Custom front bat, rear bat), just my 2 cents. But, I was told to avoid all the suck down problems related to hydrofoilin was to move to Florida.

OK - was able to fix it on first attempt. Removed the shim and the foil rode perfectly....just as it did in the warmer water.

Sweet, good to hear! Wish I got to ride as often as you do :)

I bet when the water gets in the 50's we will have to positive shim it.
